A 60-minute escape room adventure the whole family plays together — no screens, no scares, no cleanup. Saturday mornings: $130 max for up to 8 players.
Stuck for kids birthday party ideas in Wellington? An escape room is a party the kids talk about for weeks — they work together, solve puzzles against the clock, and every single one of them is off their screens for a whole hour.
The quick answers parents want first: games last 60 minutes, rooms take 2–8 players, the sweet spot is ages 10 and up, and on Saturday mornings you'll pay a maximum of $130 for up to 8 players.
Quest for the Magic Wand is our most family-friendly room and the go-to for kids' birthdays — a magical adventure with no jump scares or horror anywhere. We also have Operation Beehive (2–8 players) and The Diamond Heist (2–7 players) for families who want a spy mission or a heist instead.
One honest note: our rooms are genuinely best for kids 10 and older. Kids-only groups need every player to be at least 12, with an adult accompanying anyone under 16. If your child is under 10, we'd rather tell you now than have a disappointing party — a playground or trampoline park will be a better fit for a couple more years, and then we'll blow their minds.
Up to 8 players, Saturday mornings before noon. Otherwise $35–$45 per person depending on group size.
Kids-only groups need players 12+. An adult must accompany players under 16.
Allow about 80 minutes including the briefing and photos afterwards.
One room fits the whole party. Bigger group? Split across rooms and race.
No planning, no decorating, no cleanup. Here's the whole party from arrival to victory photo.
Turn up 10 minutes early at 118 Tory Street (we're on Level 1, up a flight of stairs). Your game master welcomes the birthday crew and explains the mission — kids are usually bouncing by the end of the briefing.
The team enters the room and the clock starts. Parents can play alongside the kids and lend a hand, or watch from reception while the game master monitors the room and drops hints whenever they're needed.
Escape (or come heartbreakingly close), grab the victory photo, then head to one of the many cafes within a short walk for cake. Food and drink stay out of the rooms, but before-or-after cake is a birthday tradition here.
Book any Saturday slot before noon and the whole group plays for a maximum of $130 total — up to 8 players. That's a full birthday party, venue and entertainment included, for about the price of a couple of pizzas each. It's the single best-value way to run a kids birthday party at our venue.
Outside Saturday mornings, standard pricing applies: $45pp for 2 players, $40pp for 3, $38pp for 4, and $35pp for 5–8. Got mostly teenagers? Our teen birthday deal from $25pp may suit better.
For a whole hour the kids are heads-down together — searching, solving, and shouting discoveries across the room. It's the rare party activity where cooperation is the entire game.
Join in and be the hero who found the hidden key, or relax in reception while the game master runs the show. Either way, an adult stays on-site for players under 16, and everyone gets the story afterwards.
Families keep telling us the same thing in our Google reviews: the kids didn't stop talking about it. With a 4.9-star rating from over 600 reviews, the birthday party pressure is off.
